Directions for using Northern’s Tank Cleaner and Tank Prep  Before using Northern Fuel Tank Liner    

Cleaning and Defuming the Tank: (Northern Tank Cleaner)  Pour the quart of Tank Cleaner into the emptied tank.  Slosh to cover all surfaces.  Allow to soak for 15 minutes.  Slosh two more times at 5 minute intervals.  Drain and rinse (with water) several times to be sure no detergent residue remains.  Do not get onto skin or clothing.  Be sure to wear gloves and eye protection goggles.   Drying:  (Northern Tank Prep)  It is important to make sure that the tank is completely dry before continuing.  This step must be performed outdoors or in a room with no pilot lights or other source of ignition.  Tank Prep vapors are extremely flammable and may travel considerable distances along the floor.  Treat it like gasoline!   
Pour 1 pint (half of the quart bottle provided) of Tank Prep into the tank, slosh thoroughly and pour out into the pail.  Pour in the remaining pint of Tank Prep, slosh thoroughly and pour into pail.  Allow the tank to drain for 15 minutes before coating.  Do not put Tank Prep down the drain!  Take it outdoors and pour it onto a gravel or dirt area away from sources of ignition, where it can safely evaporate completely.
